Role

As part of our growth and evolution a new opportunity has arisen for a Web/Application Developer to join UKSolutions. This varied and challenging role will be working primarily with PHP and MVC frameworks, MySQL, web design and deployment technologies. You will be responsible for the design, deployment, ongoing maintenance and support of customer and internal web applications.

The position is based at our Studley facility (B80 7BG) and suits a person who is self-motivated and used to working individually to deliver tools and functionality into the business. You will be expected to collate and interpret business requirements, produce specifications for sign off and develop appropriate tools to support the continued growth of the business. You will also need to manage and prioritise your work load to successfully deliver high quality work packages to stakeholders across the business and in support of our customer base. Experience of PHP frameworks such as CakePHP, management of legacy code, and a security focus is essential.

The role will include an on-call provision and therefore the applicant will need to be within a reasonable travelling distance and require their own transport for occasions when public transport may not be available (e.g. due to time of day).

Principle Accountabilities

Competencies: Web/Application Development

• OOP PHP
• Expertice with MVC frameworks (such as CakePHP)
• MySQL 5 DBA experience
• Some Perl experience
• HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX
• Graphics and Flash manipulation
• SOAP/XML manipulation

Competencies: general

• Competency with skills required for the core roles outlined above
• Own a driving license and transport to be able to reach Studley within 30 minutes and work as a part of the on-call rota
• Have a flexible approach to work and be able to handle a number of tasks simultaneously
• Be dedicated, honest and reliable to the business
• Be discreet and respect confidentiality both within and outside the business

Specific Details

Remuneration

• £20-25k per annum depending on experience and ability
