Role

As part of our growth and evolution a new opportunity has arisen for a Datacentre Facilities Engineer. This key role has the responsibility to run the day to day mechanical and electrical side of datacentre operations for two datacentres in Studley, Warwickshire. You must have a strong background in datacentre operations or process orientated facilities management, with exposure to critical power and cooling systems, along with other aspects of site maintenance.

The position is based at our Studley facilities (B80 7BG) and suits a practical person with mission critical experience, excellent general competencies with an interest to learn.

The role will include an on-call provision and therefore the applicant will need to be within a reasonable travelling distance and require their own transport for occasions when public transport may not be available (e.g. due to time of day).

Profile of Job Holder

Competencies
  • Power systems: LV distribution and switching, awareness of MV switching and transformer technologies
  • Power systems: UPS system exposure
  • Power systems: Awareness of diesel generator systems
  • Cooling systems: direct expansion (DX) and water based systems and close control strategies
  • Fire systems: awareness of fire alarm / suppression systems and processes
  • General M&E: heating, ventilation and general building power system maintenance
  • Experience working in the datacentre industry, or similar
  • Risk Assessments, Health & Safety awareness
  • Working with suppliers, Vendor evaluation and technical specification
  • Able to respond and take action in response to facilities crisis management activities
  • Able to plan and execute planned/routine maintenance and unplanned work in a way to minimise service interruption
  • Assist with critical systems training of IT personnel
  • Competent at fault diagnosis, tracing and restoration works
  • Past experience which required the ability to work under pressure and to measured quality levels
  • Preferred: involvement in datacentre design and operation, and understand the performance/business continuity needs of an ISP
Competencies: general
  • Experience of Project Management
  • Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills with excellent written and spoken English
  • Internet and Computer Literate
  • Own a driving license and transport to be able to reach Studley within 30 minutes and work on-call
  • Have a flexible approach to work and be able to handle a number of tasks simultaneously
  • Be dedicated, honest and reliable to the business
  • Be discreet and respect confidentiality both within and outside the business

Specific Details

Remuneration
  • £25-30k per annum
  • Depending on experience and ability
